After a long winter in the north there is nothing and I mean NOTHING that lifts your spirits like the first few days filled with sunshine and temperatures finally above freezing! Unless you are a staff member of Canadian Caller then the first true sign of spring is when the wild turkey starts to strut and gobble, this is “our” sunshine! So as another spring turkey hunting season is getting closer I just wanted to take a few moments to reflect on this ritual of spring that is so important to so many. Sadley unless you have had the experience of sitting under a tree with the hair on your neck standing straight out, due not to the chilly morning air….but because you are listening to a ridgeline coming alive with the sounds of gobbling turkeys.
